A field visit to the Jam Chakro Dumpsite was organized on November 1st to provide a comprehensive briefing to World Bank officials. The briefing was attended by the Program Lead, Task Team Leader, Social and Environmental Specialists, all of whom were updated on the current status of the landfill design. Project Director SWEEP along with his team of environmental, social and technical team briefed about the LFS. The discussion revolved around the challenges encountered during the design phase of the landfill site and the proposed activities aimed at enhancing health and safety measures. Additionally, mitigation measures to address existing and potential issues during the construction phase were also examined.

During the visit, the Design and Supervision Consultant team from Tumas presented the layout of the landfill cells, and insights were shared by the Environmental and Social Consultant from EMC. EMC provided information on the status of nearby residents and detailed the mitigation measures to be implemented during both the construction and operational phases.
